StoryTok vs AutoShorts

An automated Reddit-story channel, minus the monthly bill

AutoShorts popularized the “set it and forget it” faceless channel: pick a niche, and videos are made and posted for you, for $19 to $69 every month. StoryTok’s Autopilot does that job for one niche, Reddit stories, and now covers posting too: each finished video can go to your connected TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts. The difference is how you pay. There is no plan. A render costs 1 credit per minute, a post costs 1 paid credit per account, and if you pause the series, spending stops the same day.

How Autopilot works

  • You pick up to five subreddits, a cadence (12h to weekly), a voice, a background, and a caption style.
  • Each cycle, an AI agent reads the day's top posts, picks the strongest story it hasn't used, and rewrites it into an original 250–550 word narration script.
  • The video renders into your library with a Reddit-style intro card, word-timed captions, and gameplay footage.
  • Posting is a per-series choice. Off leaves the video in your library. Review first saves it as a draft on the Publishing page. Post automatically, which you opt into with a per-video spending limit, posts it publicly to the accounts you chose once the render completes.
  • In automatic mode, 1 paid credit per account is reserved before the render starts and returned if the render or that post fails.
  • It runs on your normal credits; the series pauses itself and emails you if the balance can't cover the next video.

What a month costs

A daily Autopilot video is about 2 to 3 credits to render, so 60 to 90 credits a month. Posting each one to one account adds 30, which makes 90 to 120; three accounts adds 90. One or two $10 packs cover a render-only month, two cover a month with one account, and a $50 pack of 360 credits lasts roughly three to six months at that pace. That is consumption, not a subscription price: nothing renews, and a month with no videos uses no credits. The full rules are on the pricing page.

When AutoShorts might suit you better

AutoShorts covers far more faceless niches than Reddit stories, and its homepage lists auto-posting to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram as part of the subscription (checked 18 September 2026). If your channel is motivation, history, scary stories or anything else that is not a Reddit story, StoryTok’s scheduler does not make it and AutoShorts does. A flat monthly price can also be simpler to budget than a meter if you post every day to several accounts, because StoryTok’s posting charge grows with each account. StoryTok’s captions and YouTube title are set once per series and reused; it does not write fresh ones per episode.

Questions

Is there an AutoShorts alternative without a subscription?

For Reddit-story channels, yes. StoryTok's Autopilot sources a story from your subreddits, rewrites it, renders it on a schedule and can post it to your connected TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts. It runs on one-time credit packs ($5, $10 or $50). There is no monthly fee, credits never expire, and a paused series costs nothing. AutoShorts covers more niches than that.

Does StoryTok auto-post like AutoShorts?

Yes, as an opt-in. Each Autopilot series has a posting mode: Off (the default, render only), Review first (each finished video waits as a draft until you confirm it) or Post automatically (each finished video is posted publicly to the accounts you chose, within a per-video spending limit you set). Posting costs 1 paid credit per video per connected account. Posts go out after the scheduled render finishes, not at an exact clock time, and the caption and YouTube title are set once per series and reused.

How much does an automated faceless channel cost on StoryTok?

A daily Autopilot video uses about 2 to 3 credits to render, so 60 to 90 credits a month. With posting on (Review first or Post automatically), the series writes shorter scripts, 140 to 240 words, so every video fits the platforms' short-video limits; those usually render for 1 to 2 credits. Add 1 credit per connected account per video and a daily series posted to one account also uses about 60 to 90 credits a month. The smallest purchase that covers either month is one or two $10 packs of 60 credits. A $50 pack of 360 credits lasts roughly four to six months at that pace. These are credits consumed, not a subscription: a month with no videos costs nothing. AutoShorts plans are $19 to $69 a month (checked August 2026).

Which accounts can StoryTok post to?

TikTok, Instagram (as a Reel; a Creator or Business account is required) and YouTube (YouTube decides whether the upload is classified as a Short). Instagram and YouTube need a vertical or square video of 3 minutes or less. Every post is public. Trial videos are watermarked and cannot be published from StoryTok.
